Doctor Teik-Khoon (“TK”) Tan combines years of theoretical knowledge, cutting-edge technical experience, and business acumen in a wide range of fields. These include automotive and vehicle engineering dealing with mechatronics, mechanical, electrical, and software development; Artificial Intelligent (AI) technologies; data mining; analytics; and test and evaluation of components and systems.
Dr. Tan’s most recent areas of interest center on solid hybrid electric vehicles, pure electric vehicles, and autonomous vehicles. His patents include work on control strategies for hybrid and electric vehicles and advanced powertrain development, with additional patents pending.
His academic credentials include a Ph.D. in Electrical and System Engineering; an M.S.E. in Mechanical Engineering; and three magna cum laude bachelor’s degrees in computer science, Physics, and Mathematics.
He is one of 16 selected members of Navistar’s 2017 Envision team, which combines a research project with intense MBA training to present a novel business strategy to company leadership.
Fluent in several languages, Dr. Tan is a member of numerous technical organizations including IEEE, ASME, ACM, SME, and CASA; as well as honor societies such as Tau Beta Pi, Phi Kappa Phi, Sigma Pi Sigma. He is also founder and president of the Association of Systems Automation (ASA).
In addition to conducting research, designing, developing, and fielding systems, Dr. Tan has shared his knowledge as an instructor in numerous academic and industry settings, and as an author of numerous technical papers.
